Write to this Prompt: Happiest Childhood Memory or Saddest Childhood Memory

These are weird topics to write about since all of my childhood memories seem like I was in a seventeen-year blackout and only flashes of the nights and days survived.

I remember one Christmas Eve my parents went all out with the snacks and they called me upstairs for a surprise. I was walking through the dining room and stopped when a plate full of little smokies wrapped in Pilsbury crescent dough caught my eye so I was busy loading up a plate and somehow I didn’t see my sister Trudy walk in the front door. She had been medically discharged from the navy after being gone for months and months and she had come home.

“Surprise!”

I was so happy I dropped the plate and ran to her and I have no idea if this part is accurate but it seemed like everyone was standing on the sides, like Trudy and I were running through a tunnel of people like at fancy military weddings when the bride and groom go under those tunnels of swords, except there weren't any swords. And we were running in approved directions at each other, like long lost sisters in a meadow or field of flowers, like a long lost slo-mo hug. And I’m pretty sure I did that kid monkey thing where I like wrapped my legs around her waist and hung on because I was so happy. Also, I think I had just had woken up from a nap and was kind of disoriented and I’m pretty sure I was wearing a ghost busters sweatshirt that said “I have been slimed!”
